How WriteAtHome Writing Works
WriteAtHome exists to support families by helping students reach their writing potential and develop a love for literature, language, and history.

Our asynchronous writing courses are available for grades 6-12. With WriteAtHome, you can be confident your students are getting the instruction, practice, and coaching they need to become capable, college-ready writers. We do more than grade papers.
We provide annual, semester, or workshop-length classes.
-
Annual ($579): Only offered in the fall, our annual courses run 32 weeks, not including holiday breaks. They are our most popular courses and are generally our first recommendation. Why? Simply, writing is a skill one develops through practice, and annual courses provide the most practice.
Our annual courses are comprehensive courses that cover a wide range of writing types, including creative, academic, and practical writing. We think students benefit the most from our annual courses.
-
Semester ($299): Our semester courses (A and B) offer the solution for those who cannot enroll in an annual course. They offer the same content as our annual courses but are divided into two 16-week semesters.
All semester courses are offered twice per year — in both the fall and spring semesters — and students may start with either the A or B semester.
-
Workshops ($199): If you are looking for an a la carte approach, you should consider our workshops. These each focus on one particular type of writing. Some examples are short story writing, essay writing, and research paper writing. If your budget or time is limited, or if you are only interested in a particular type of writing skill, workshops might be the best option for you.
Workshops are offered throughout the year: five workshop sessions during the school year and two summer sessions.
Our APPROACH:
WriteAtHome writing coaches provide feedback on every submitted assignment. They offer encouragement, as well as direction for revision. Final drafts of each assignment receive a score based on the WriteAtHome 3x3+1 Scoring Rubric.
Our EXPECTATIONS:
Each week, students are given access to a lesson, quiz, and a writing assignment. The assignment is always due the following week. Students compose their papers on your computer's word processor (e.g., Word or Google Docs) and upload the file to submit it.
Our DELIVERY:
WriteAtHome is an asynchronous program. That means you don't have to be online at a particular time each week. It works with your schedule. There is no real-time interaction with a teacher, no video feeds or webinars. Instruction is provided through our online platform.
